140 Characters Remaining (A Rant)
Twitter. Lately, I’ve fallen out of love for that mess of a social network. Mainly because the character limit is both a blessing and a curse. I understand what Twitter is, it’s a “what are you doing?”, “send a text message to the world”, way of socialising. I use it most days, but I don’t take it seriously, at all.
Maybe that’s the wrong way to look at it?
Watch and Walk
My new watch arrived today, after a week of waiting for it and I love it. The strap is (for once) really comfortable, which is probably because it’s quite thick. As most people reading this will know, I am extremely picky when it comes to pretty much everything, so what on Earth would I pick?
Tired and Retired (long post)
Now I’m retired, I have some time to myself. Well, when I say “some”, I mean “quite a lot of”. I’ve had a few ideas of how to fill all my spare time, so I thought I’d blog about it. Of course there’s the usual “music, movies, video games, etc” but I’ve now started a few new things. One of which is a bit more unusual.
Reading Again!
Ok, as promised, here’s the followup to my bitching about not being able to read books. What I did in the end was buy a kindle. I thought at the time that it was a good idea and something worthwhile. Was it?
Once in a Blue Moon!
Yes, holy shit, a blog post. I have a lot to catch up on! I’ll spread them out a bit, leaving one blog post per subject (plus it gives me a break between them!) I have so much to talk about, for a change.
I have a followup to my A Reader’s Lament post, which I hope will help people in a similar situation to me. For people who want to read, but are struggling.
I want to write about my retirement, how I’m coping spending most of my time at home. My new hobbies and things to keep me busy (this’ll be exciting!)
I have more tech stuff to write about, including a version of Android I actually LIKE! I want to talk about the things I bought to help my retirement, my 3DTV, new “micro system” camera, etc.
Maybe some posts about video games, movies, music, etc. I don’t think I’ve done too many of those!
Also posts about the story I’m writing as well as my crazy nightmares.
I’d also like some ideas with what else I should write about. Things I won’t write about are simply: politics and religion, I prefer to stay out of both topics as much as possible!
At Last, The End.
As some of you will know, I’m a scummy public sector worker. Well, was. My department was kind enough to end my suffering at the beginning of the week by telling me that I’m going to be retired. That’s it, the end, no more work, forever. Because of my fortunate placement in the finance, specifically, pension services (see where this is going?), I’m leaving on tier 2 ill-health grounds.
A Reader’s Lament…
I like to read, but I have a problem. Books are too heavy and awkward for my hands, turning pages, etc is a pain. I have tried various things with varying degrees of success. As you can see from the picture, I have an iPad, a Sony Reader PRS-600 “Touch Edition”, an iPhone 4 and Kindle for Mac. Each of these serve me well (or have, in the case of the Sony), but each have a huge flaw.
